Samantha White did the amazing makeup while NM Beautybar did the superlative hair. Sam suggested I looked like Martha May Whovier of live-action Grinch film fame, and I’ll take it! 😉
Thanks to Retro Lovely, I’m on the cover of Vol. 244 of the flagship! The photography, set, makeup, and hair are the work of the always-fabulous Marilee Caruso, while the wardrobe was provided by Bettie Page Lingerie!
The Bettie Page set is the Cleo Contrast Stitch Retro set, in stunning pink and light turquoise! Marilee reconstructed her pink and teal boudoir set for the occasion, creating an all-new seamless background with pretty gold stars. We love how it turned out!
The Cleo set is sized up to about 20 US. I usually wear size 18 US in Bettie Page Lingerie bottoms, but this panty and girdle are size 20 US and fit very big on me (we clipped them for the photos). The 40F bra they sent was just perfect (it’s my usual size for most brands, including Bettie Page).
I wanted a retro-spiderweb theme, kind of like the set on the old Vampira show, and Liz totally delivered. She made the bib necklace and the belt, and supplied the dress, hairflowers, earrings, and some of the rings, too. Makeup was by the fabulous-as-always Beauty By Samantha White and hair was by the superb NM Beautybar.
Both of us are big fans of Anna Biller’s 2016 horror-comedy film, The Love Witch, so naturally we wanted to portray our own versions of the titular “love witch” from the movie – Elaine. We collected our spell-casting props and planned wardrobe while Marilee put together a great set reminiscent of Elaine’s apartment in the film.
Marilee’s amazing late-1960’s-inspired makeup and hair work incorporated both of Elaine’s eyeshadow looks – vintage turquoise blue for Lavinia and purple for me! In all, I think the three of us captured the bright, saturated technicolor look of the movie, which is visually reminiscent of the colorful Hammer Horror films of the 1950s and 1960s.
This is a totally fresh publication, offering some of the best modern pinup imagery by contemporary photography greats. Volume one is on sale at cost – only $9 for a bundle including both the print and .pdf versions!
Two more pinup publications this year, both with photography, makeup and hair by Marilee Caruso! My Rick’s Dessert Diner images are in the super-duper Social Pin Issue 72 (and on the back cover!) and my Lucy Westenra (of the Coppola Bram Stoker’s Dracula adaptation fame) pics are in Volume 1 of Retro Lovely‘s new Vampyre special edition!
