People tend to create longstanding relationships with the clothing brands that fit their bodies and their lifestyles the best. Two of my most meaningful fashion relationships have developed with New Orleans-based, vintage-inspired Trashy Diva and Los Angeles’ Pinup Girl Clothing. This holiday season, in true fangirl fashion, I’ll be wearing pieces by both Trashy Diva and PUG!
My Thanksgiving dress is the lovely Lilian dress by Trashy Diva. Sadly, this one’s almost entirely sold out at both PinupGirlClothing.com and TrashyDiva.com. With its sleek 1940s lines, authentic-feeling rayon fabric, and show-stopping peacock shoulder detail, Lilian is beautiful and popular enough to be a prime restock candidate!
I purchased my usual Trashy Diva size 14, which fits my 42-32/3-48″ shape very well.
One of my other holiday dresses is Pinup Girl Clothing’s Monica, a well-constructed jersey knit cocktail dress with a built-in bengaline substructure that provides good fit. I purchased Monica in black, but it also comes in red and a really snazzy gold Lurex. The bengaline substructure and the strategic ruching make this dress extra-flattering, but keep in mind that you may need shapewear. The dress is very stretchy in the waist and hips, which is good news for pear-shaped peeps like me. The XL fits me perfectly, with plenty of room in the hips and butt. Most people will be able to pull on the dress without unzipping it. Those with lots of sideboob or very large breasts should pay careful attention to the size chart, however, as the armscye seaming is a little constraining and the bust tends to flatten – not push up – the boobage.
